Online Journalists Can Now Win a Pulitzer Prize Too

Mashable.com:

"...(T)he basic criteria for qualifying organizations are that they “publish at least weekly … are primarily dedicated to original news reporting and coverage of ongoing stories … and adhere to the highest journalistic principles.”"

Okay, though I have Puerto Rico press credentials, I don't consider Myself a journalist. But I do try to adhere to journalistic standards of fairness, accuracy and contextual presentation in both Jenius Jots and Gil The Jenius.

That doesn't make Me a hero, it just makes Me a blogger with a more serious mind-set than most bloggers. With the acceptance of online journalists to compete for Pulitzer Prizes, the industry has taken a step that was long long overdue. As noted in the brief article, the announcement came on the day the Tribune Company filed for bankruptcy. Maybe if the powers-that-be in traditional media had embraced the new wave of online media sooner, newspapers would be both more relevant and more successful than they are right now.
