"(Jesse) Jackson Jr. told ABC News that he had actively campaigned to be appointed to Barack Obama' senate seat but that there was no quid pro quo with Governor Blagojevich. He met on Monday with Blagojevich to campaign for the post and said he was 'shocked' at the allegations unveiled in the 76-page FBI affidavit that accompanied the governor's arrest Tuesday.
Federal law enforcement sources told the network that Jackson Jr. was the fifth candidate referred to in the affidavit. Jackson Jr. said, 'I'm not aware of that,' when asked if he was Senate Candidate #5.
Jackson Jr. said he would be speaking to federal investigators and sharing what he knows about Blagojevich and the efforts to replace Obama. But he said he was told he is 'not a target' of the investigation."
