David Gregory should not host Meet the Press - The Seminal :: Independent Media and Politics

"Like many of his celebrity journalist colleagues, (David) 3Gregory is a prime example of deferential “access” journalism, happily absorbing talking points and conventional wisdom in exchange for so-called “inside stories.” When he wasn’t busy serving as a translator for Ann Coulter, he danced with Karl Rove while Iraq burned. His focus on superficial rather than substantive issues, such as his egging on of the supposed Clinton/Obama soap opera drama does the public a terrible disservice (just browse through any of his recent show transcripts)."

Agreed. What made Tim Russert the quintessential journalist was his ceaseless efforts to get at the heart of the matter, digging hard to understand not only the gist of the topic, but its nuances as well. He didn't need to agree with the person he interviewed, but he did need to make sure he'd given that person the best chance to express and explain themselves. Gregory is a sweatsock to Russet's tuxedo.

And more media idiocy at the national level, one that even for Fox Noise is unfathomably stupid: A reality show "star" discussing Obama's transition efforts. Why? Only because she's black. Fox Noise: Skin deep.
